Dr. Caroline Betbeze Examines Eye of Rare Kemp's Ridley Sea Turtles

ACVO Diplomate, Dr. Caroline Betbeze, performed eye exams on some rare Kemp’s Ridley sea turtles that were rescued from the northeast waters and were cold-stunned. When these turtles become cold-stunned, they do not blink or shut their eyes as normal, which can lead to eye abnormalities. Not only are Dr. Betbeze, those at Mississippi State University, and the Institute for Marine Mammal Studies helping these turtles with their eyesight, but the data collected are going to be beneficial for both teaching and research that will help turtles in the future!
