The Animal Eye Institute is very excited to offer an Ophthalmology Internship which would begin July 15, 2017 and conclude on July 1, 2018.

Clinical responsibilities will be conducted under direct supervision of DJ Haeussler, DVM, MS, DACVO.

The intern will work one-on-one with Dr. Haeussler and the internís instruction will include: primary patient care, management of inpatient and outpatient responsibilities, assisting with surgical procedures, and diagnosing and treating companion animals, equine patients, and wildlife with various ophthalmic disease.

In addition to routine clinical responsibilities, the intern will also provide in house seminars, be expected to participate in weekly rounds, and may be expected to participate in weekend and emergency duties.

Interns will be expected to provide consultations and contribute to educating referring veterinarians and their practices. Candidates must be highly ambitious, socially sound, and have completed a one-year rotating internship or its equivalent in practice experience.

Interns will need to have a DVM or equivalent and will be licensed in the state of Ohio and Kentucky.

The Animal Eye Institute operates from three locations: Cincinnati (Ohio), Dayton (Ohio), and Florence (Kentucky). We have a busy small animal and equine caseload and we routinely examine exotic patients.

Our Ophthalmology Intern will be expected to fulfill weekly reading requirements and prepare PowerPoint lectures for general practice teaching rounds. Interns will be strongly encouraged to attend the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists Annual Meeting.

The experience will prepare the intern for a successful residency in veterinary ophthalmology.

*Vacation, Compensation, and Requirements*

Interns will be allowed 7 days for vacation/CE/sick time/interviews. The annual salary is $27,000. Ohio and Kentucky state licensure as well as professional liability insurance will be provided, as well as a CE allowance.
