Dr. William F. Jackson

William F. Jackson, an Emeritus Diplomate, passed away on December 14th after a long decline in health. He was president of the FVMA in 1978, and a past president of the AVMA and the World Small Animal Veterinary Association. Dr. Jackson served for 13 years as editor of the American Animal Hospital Association Journal, served on the AVMA Council of Education, was a charter Diplomate for Examination of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmology, and one of the founders and an honorary Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners. He earned his DVM degree in 1947 from Michigan State University. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, December 16 at the First United Methodist Church, 72 Lake Morton Drive, Lakeland. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in his memory to the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine, the FVMA Foundation or memorial of choice.
