Come and join our wonderful eyeball loving team. We are now looking to expand the department with ambitious and enthusiastic ophthalmologists, who wish to contribute to our continued success and development. The ophthalmology team works collaboratively with other specialist departments, including internal medicine, oncology, soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, neurology, dermatology and is supported by anaesthesia and diagnostic imaging. The pathology and clinical pathology laboratories at the AHT complement the clinical services, providing a full on-site diagnostic service. The main case load is small animal but there is also the potential to restart the equine ophthalmology clinic. We have a dedicated equine consultation room and operating theatre, as well as the ability to hospitalize equine patients with the necessary supportive staff.

The ophthalmology unit is well equipped and has a busy medical and surgical caseload. Our clinic contains all the facilities expected of an advanced referral clinic. As well as top of the range diagnostic equipment we have

  • Two operating microscopes
  • Two phacoemulsification units
  • External and endoscopic diode laser
  • Electroretinography
  • Ultrasonography
  • Retinal camera (RetCam)
  • Cryotherapy,
  • Strontium plesiotherapy  
  • 1.5T MRI and 16 Slice CT
  • Fluoroscopy
  • Scintigraphy
  • Videoendoscopy, and minimally-invasive surgical equipment
  • Radiotherapy suite comprising a Clinac 23EX linear accelerator
  • HDR brachytherapy.
